Jessica Cole: Model Spy, Code Red Lipstick

I have just finished reading the brilliant Code  Red Lipstick, first in the Jessica Cole:Model Spy series.  I have been able to access the book before it has come out, it will be launched on June 5th with a sequel coming out in January, and a third book coming out next summer.

The book is all about 14 year old Jessica Cole and how she fights to find her Dad and stop Allegra Knight.
Despite the deceiving front cover, this book is not a particularly girly book, but will probably appeal more to girls than boys. It is aimed for people about 11+, and is suitable for both genders.

If you like mystery, thrillers, spies and books like Alex Rider then you will love Code Red Lipstick.

Sarah Sky's first novel is a brilliant read and I would certainly recommend it to everyone. It can currently be pre-ordered on Amazon, but will soon be on the shelves.

You can follow Sarah on twitter @sarahsky23 .

This is currently the only cover, but I am sure there will be others.

The Fault in our Stars, John Green

The Fault in our Stars is an amazing book following the life of Hazel. The sixteen year old from America has cancer in the lungs.
THIS BOOK IS REALLY SAD, so make sure your ready. although I ddin't actually cry at the ending, lots of people did, and I was definately sorry for all the characters.
This book is narrated by main character Hazel, and if you know someone who has cancer this book may affect you in a different way.

But don't let it put you off, for a start; everyone is reading it, there is a film coming out, and finnaly it is a great read. As it says on the back cover of the book: "Prepare to alugh, cry and think".

The book also offers a really interesting view on life.
I would with out a doubt reccomend it to all adults and children about 11+.
This is, if you like, the film cover. It is what's on most of the posters etc. This image is also on some of the books

This is the most common book cover, but of course there are others.

The 5th Wave

This thrilling, imagination capturing book is the brilliant starter to the sequel (coming out in summer 2014).
It is America in the not so distant future and aleins are invading. Cassie is on the run, when Sam gets "rescued" she begins thinking she is the only human left. Until she meets Evan. Cassie has to choose, between hope and realism, between life and death.

The book is split up into around 8 or 9 parts. The book is further split into chapters, making it a manageable read.
The plot is not overly complex, easy enough to follow, but hard enough to get you thinking.
I would definatley reccomend The 5th Wave to anyone, 11 and over, boy or girl.

Clockwork, Philip Pullman

This not so well known novel is a great way to read something more challenging. It is a small book,  with a complex plot.

Clockwork is set in Germany, in about the 1800s (?). It gives an interesting in sight to life from another percpective, and despite its odd storyline, I would reccomend it.
