Hunger Games, Catching Fire

The second in the Hunger Gmaes triology is a brilliant book. At the start of the book there is not much action and is quite boring, but if you stick with it gets much better. This is one for all the action lovers out there. This book sets your heart racing and you literally can't put it down.

I have to say, the book is a bit grima dn if you hate wonds and find blood sikening this is certainly not for you. This book is the second in a superb trilogy, obviosly you have to read the first one to get it.

The plot

If you have already read the first one then basically President Snow wants revenge. With the quater quell approching things couldn't be more convinent...

If The Hunger Games is a new idea then it is about America in the future. Starvation strikes the country of Panem and the Hunger Games come about. Every year a girl and a boy between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are put in the arena tof fight to the death. This may sound sick and gross, but it is not. The idea is so unrealistic (children being forced to kill one another), that it is not at all horrid.

This book is ceratinly not for children under the age of 10 as it contains some, possibly, scary aspects. This is one for adults, pre-teens and teens, but the kids will enjoy it more.

'101 Things To Do Before you're old and boring'

'101 Things To Do Before You're Old and Boring' is a great book to get you out there. Inside this funny and useful novel is a burst of brilliant ideas. With step by step guides and ideas to get you going.

I have the book myself and am working my way through the 101 things to do. Some of these include inventing a new trend, starting a collection, and teaching your grandparents something new. Whether it's the weekend, the holidays or you're just bored there is something in there for you to do. Some things require effort and time; like spending Christmas in another country, whereas some are quick and simple to do: like starting a blog.

i would definately recommened this book by Richard Horne and Helen Szirtes as it is a brilliant book and a great way to try something new. I purchesed my copy off amazon, but is probably avalible at the stores too.
This is the only cover for the book that I am aware of.

The Boy in the Smoke

The Boy in the Smoke is an excellent, yet sinister novel about a troubled Eton boy. On night in the boathouse he does performs a desperate act  that changes his life for ever.

The book is for about 12+, but if the reader doesn't like ghost books then this is certainly not for you. The book is small, with only 86 pages. The  novel is available to get with our world book day tokens. World book day is a brilliant scheme to get kids, and teens, reading.

Back to the book, TBS is one for the teens, it has lots of ghosts and keeps you no the edge of your seat the whole read. It really doesn't take long to read and is certainly  good book.

Finding your style

Do you want to really get reading but can't seem t find the right book for you? Well, the key is in the comments. Usually on the front or back of books there will be a comment like: "A brilliant thriller" The Times. Look at these and it becomes obvious what type of book it is. If it says "A brilliant thriller" then you know that the book is a thriller.

If you don't even know if you like thrillers, and your thinking: "What does 'thriller' even mean?" then ask around. Ask your friends to tell you the books they've read and ask them to tell you briefly what happened in it. This will give you an idea of whether you will like it or not, if the plot sounds good to you then you'll probably like it.

If you have no friends then go into a book shop, pick a book you think you might like and ask the owner to give you an idea of the plot. For this strategy it is best to go into an individual book seller as they know more about the books on their shelves than the big brands and chain shops. If you don't fancy the trip to the shops (lazy!!! :P) then go on eBay, amazon etc., and search for the book you want and click on reviews. This isn't the best way, but it works.

Finally, leave a comment asking me to review a book for you, I'll do my best to do it.

If all else fails, get the book anyway.

the street or the web when buying books?

So, you want to get a new book but the rain is showing no signs of stopping. You decided to order one of the internet - but eBay or Amazon. Well, personally I would go for Amazon, when book buying. Amazon's books are better quality and they are easier to get.EBay might be cheaper in some cases, but Amazon has more choices. On Amazon you can see the back, front and inside of books,  on eBay this is unavailable.

Also sometimes eBay's produce can be in bad condition, for example: have writing in it etc. However, Amazon's products are new and therefor generally in better condition. I guess it is up to you which one you head for and eBay certainly has a lot of options when it comes to which one you want, but when online book buying I head for the Amazon option.

Of course if possible then go for individual or chain  book stores as there you can actually look at the boo your getting before you pay. I wouldn't go for supermarkets when buying books as they tend not to have that much produce chose. I would say that shops that just sell books are best as they generally have more range, when it comes to books. But shops that sell stationery as well are good.

In conclusion, Amazon is probably more reliable when it comes to the whole online book buying business. and when you can get out head for the shops, not supermarkets. I would recommend shops rather than the web when searching out books.

Ruby Redfort, Catch Your Death

Catch Your Death, starring Ruby Redfort, is an amazing action packed book about a teenage spy. This book is third in the Ruby Redfort series. Author Lauren Child has written many other fabulous books, but the Ruby Redfort series is the best.
I would certainly recommend this thrilling and gripping read, but I would read the first two books in the series first as they provide important facts about the teenage girl from America.
The Ruby Redfort books are both for girls and boys, it isn't girly or boyish either. Despite the main character being a girl her best friend and accomplice on most missions is a boy. Basically, it is a unisex book.

I would also recommend all Lauren child books, for little kids and older ones. Go to this web address to find the Ruby Redfort page. I would recommend going!...  http://rubyredfort.com/
